Bloodtide is addictive reading, you cant just read one chapter you keep going and going and before you know its the middle of the book. There are lots of things I loved about Bloodtide: its gritty, vivid (the world-building is spectacular), the writing and the book doesnt make nice/5.

Bloodtide () is no exception, and, with the except of Lady, it might be his single grimmest work. Based loosely on an old Icelandic saga, Mr.

Burgess paints a ruined London that's home to warring gangs and half-animal warriors. The book opens with the marriage of teenage Signy to the leader of a /5(3). Bloodtide pecks vulture-like at almost every element of human emotion and gnaws wolf-hound style at the moral dimensions thrown onto the book's exceptionally violent battle ground.

As you'd expect of a post-apocalyptic saga blood lust, ambition, greed, lies lay much of humanity to waste/5(13). "Powerfully conceived, Bloodtide is a novel of bristling intrigue. In sharp, confident prose Burgess imagines a startling world of humans and shapeshifters, predators and prisoners, villains and heroes.

It's a fierce adventure that forces your attention and refuses to let go." —Adele Griffin, author of Sons of Liberty, a National Book Award Brand: Simon Pulse. Published by Andersen Press Price £ Age 15+. Straddling a dystopian future and a myth-ridden past, Bloodtide is a savage story of betrayal, passion, hatred and the corrupting nature of power.
